Millisave vs Salsify: Product Catalogue Compared

3 min read, Last checked October 2026

Both products start from the same idea: a company should describe each product once and use that record everywhere. Salsify applies it to product content that has to reach retailers and consumer-facing channels. Millisave applies it inside the company, where the same record supports purchasing, sales, prospecting and customer-facing catalogue links. The two solve different halves of the catalogue problem.

What Salsify sells

Salsify describes an Intelligent Product Experience Management (PXM) platform. Its site lists a PIM that centralises product content, syndication to consumer touchpoints, digital shelf analytics, an Intelligence Suite for AI automation, Enhanced Content, a GDSN data pool, Catalog Sites and supplier-side tools. The audiences named are brands and retailers, with industry segments such as consumer goods, food and beverage, fashion and beauty, home goods and industrials. Public profiles place Salsify in Boston, in the United States. Its website carries a company-news banner announcing that Cinven is to acquire Salsify, so check the ownership position with the vendor.

What Millisave Digital Catalog does

A Millisave product record holds the title, description, SKU or reference, brand, model, price, origin, images, categories and subcategories, linked suppliers, unit of measure, tax, variants, criticality and quantity on hand. It also shows linked contracts and catalogues. Requests, RFQs, orders, reports and catalogue shares read the same record, which cuts wrong-item orders. Items come in by import or by hand, with progress and error reporting on bulk imports.

How the rest of the Millisave platform adds up

The catalogue is the shared master record of the platform. A buyer finds the item in Source to Pay and orders it. A salesperson shares the same item in an e-catalogue from Sales & Marketing, with prices, stock and discounts shown or hidden as the company decides. Sales Engine then starts from the catalogue to propose buyers. Changes made once, such as a new category or a price, appear wherever the product is used.

Who should choose which

Choose Salsify if your main challenge is publishing rich, consistent product content to many retailers and marketplaces and measuring how it performs on the digital shelf. Choose Millisave if you are a manufacturer, distributor or wholesaler that wants one internal catalogue serving purchasing and sales, and a secure way to send selected products and prices to business customers. Millisave Digital Catalog is not a public online shop and is not a full warehouse system, so confirm channel needs in the demo.

Frequently asked questions

Is Millisave a Salsify alternative?

Only for part of the job. Salsify is a product experience management platform for syndicating rich content to retailers. Millisave Digital Catalog is one internal catalogue for buying and selling, with suppliers, contracts, stock, prices and secure e-catalogue links. It is not built for retailer syndication.

What does a Millisave product record contain?

It holds the title, description, SKU, brand, model, price, origin, images, categories, linked suppliers, unit of measure, tax, variants, criticality and quantity on hand. It also shows linked contracts and catalogues, and it is the shared source for requests, RFQs, orders, reports and catalogue shares.

Can Millisave share a catalogue with customers?

Yes. Customers see a catalogue only when the sales team shares it as an e-catalogue through a secure link by email or WhatsApp. The team controls what is visible, such as prices, stock and discounts, and sets an expiry. The catalogue is not publicly browsable without the link.

Does Millisave manage warehouse stock?

Digital Catalog handles stock as quantity levels with minimum and maximum thresholds and reorder points, plus bulk updates by file. It is not a full warehouse management system; a multi-warehouse movement ledger with counts is documented as planned and is not part of the current description.
